This is a simple manual how to organize your own ski
holidays in Bohinj - Slovenia. |
1.) Time of your vacation:
In Slovenia usual winter season lasts from
December 20th to March 15th. Most of the snow is expected in January and
February. This year Vogel ski resort is planned to be open on Dec 22nd
2007, and Kobla ski resort on Dec 15th 2007 if there is enough snow. Let me remind you on Slovenian and
Croatian school holidays from Dec, 25th to January 15th (it is quite
crowded at that periode of time).
2.) Your travel insurance:
Skiing is one of the "risky" sports so make
sure you organize your travel insurance:
3.) Transfer from airport to Bohinj
(Slovenia):
If you are a party of more persons it is cheaper to
take a taxi van than train or bus. Van can take up to 8 persons.
Taxi van is provided by
Jager (private
pension in Bohinj) and the costs from some airports to Bohinj are:
Ljubljana airport - Bohinj (40 miles) -
70-75 EUR
Klagenfurt - Bohinj (81 miles) - 130 EUR
Salzburg - Bohinj (180 miles) - 280 EUR
Trieste - Bohinj (138 miles) - 200 EUR
*Taxi van has to be booked in advanced.
You can also take bus to Klagenfurt train station and
train from Klagenfurt to Bohinjska Bistrica (change trains once or twice).
However Slovenia has joined European Union in May 2004 but the national
border with Austria still exists...
